Last month we had a Dalmore tasting. One of our club members is a chemist, and she said she could pick up the caramel coloring smell and taste from at least two of the bottles we sampled. I couldn’t believe that the coloring had a taste… but then I learnt it is actually made of burnt sugar. Why add coloring if it can alter the taste of the whisky?
