***NEWS UPDATE*** UK Chancellor of the Exchequer Jeremy Hunt plans a 10.1% duty increase on Scotch Whisky and other distilled spirits. The tax increase is linked to inflation, and will raise the cost of taxes on a bottle of Scotch from 70 to 75% when it takes effect August 1. The increase will only affect whiskies sold within the UK, and not those exported to other countries.
