With it coming up to 40 Years since the decimation of some of the Scotch distilleries being closed in 1983 - do people think it would be an idea or have a plan to acknowledge this through a short film, book or tasting? Some distilleries may have reopened but a few like my hometown of Peterhead lost the distillery for good. I think the North Eastern of Scotland lost a few icons that year. It wasn’t just distilleries lost but the Maltings as well as the fall out onto the local communities, employees as well as the wee shops losing customers. Distilleries closed in 1983: Banff Brora Carsebridge Dallas Dhu Glen Albyn Glenlochy Glen Mhor Glenugie Linlithgow North Point Port Ellen St Magdelane It seems I entered the world in a very devastating year for whisky industry.
