Sampled a brilliant anCnoc a couple of nights back. This 2006 vintage anCnoc (bottled 2022) was a single cask bottling of 510 bottles for the managing director of a liquor importer that used to be their distributor in Malaysia. I would say this is amongst my top three favourite new whiskies that I have tasted this year. (The other two are Meikle Toir “The Turbo 2025” and the new Dalmore 18. It reminds me of an “old school” sherry matured single malt. An intense flavour bomb, heavy on dried raisins, chocolate, Christmas cake & palm sugar. It does have some burn drunk neat, as it’s bottled at a hefty 62.5% ABV. A little water opens it up beautifully and the burn on the swallow subsides with it. Wow! Wow! Wow!
