I recently had my first taste of the Kavalan Triple Sherry Cask single malt whisky at my favourite Bangkok rooftop bar - SPECTRUM at the top of Hyatt Regency Bangkok Sukhumvit. My thoughts… It’s sweeter than their “Solist Sherry Cask” that I am more familiar with. This expression has been matured in a combination of Oloroso, PX & Moscatel casks. It has the signature chocolaty, dried raisins and palm sugar notes that I expect from sherry maturation but it also delivers hints of red berries and some honey. Sadly, it has been bottled at an ABV of 40% (43% in the US) and the light ABV means the intensity of flavours are muted somewhat and the mouth feel lacks viscosity. A decent, if unspectacular, drinking experience. I’d be happy drinking this if offered but would probably buy the Kavalan Solist Sherry Cask rather than spend my money on this expression. #whiskydev #SingleMalt #whisky #kavalanwhisky #HyattRegencyBangkokSukhumvit
