Just thought I would post about the amazing event I have just had at Maltstock downunder. I was lucky enough to be asked to go along and take photos for the event. The weekend had around 100 people that included guest and distillers. The weekend started off Friday afternoon with everyone getting allocated the accomodation, then everybody mingled in the main house at Rath Farm, in the main room they had the gathering where everyone brought a bottle of whisky to share. The range was amazing. Then we headed down to the barn for our evening meal. After the evening meal they had a blind tasting of 6 Tasmanian whisky’s. This was great fun made better by being in the winning team thanks to Richard from Overeem. His tasting skills and knowledge are amazing. After this it was back to the main room for more whisky and chats and a midnight feast then bedtime! Next morning was breakfast in the barn followed by a whisky walk around the historic town of Bothwell. After that is was a choice of distillery tours(Callington,Belgrove, Lawrenny Or Clyde Mill) also at the farm they had 20 minute sessions with different distilleries, So much fun and some great whisky. After this we had the evening meal followed by Battle of the Brands, a big bonfire live music and cocktails again all the time they had the main area with the gathering table. Sunday morning was breakfast and a trip to Clyde Mill. Then time to go home. The founders of Maltstock came down to Tasmania for the event. Keep your eyes out for Maltstock Downunder next year and also in September Maltstock in the Netherlands in September.
