Update on constitutionality of home distilling - After the 5th Circuit struck down the blanket Federal ban, less than 2 weeks later, the 6th Circuit upheld the law, rejecting precedent from 5th. This is called a 'circuit split' in which case it remains unresolved until the Supreme Court settles which circuit if either decided correctly. (So unless you're in the 5th Circuit, don't start something you weren't doing already, and even there, don't get to loud about flirting a law that might be reinstated there. IANAL this is not legal advice -- just common sense. And besides it ought to be against your local fire code to do high proof distillation in bigger-than-perfume-quantities in a residential-zoned domicile. The fire/explosion danger in distilling essential oils for perfume etc is IIRC much tamer.) https://thehill.com/opinion/judiciary/5857091-home-distilling-laws-unconstitutional/
