Part 2 of the Celtic Whiskey Shop trilogy: Celtic Cask 59 "Caoga a naoi" single malt Irish whiskey 2007 vintage (almost) 14.5 years, 54.5%, unchill filtered, natural color, cask strength Cask information can be found: https://www.celticwhiskeyshop.com/celtic-cask-caoga-a-naoi-59-single-malt-2007-bourbon-fino-sherry-tokaji-cask Nose: Fresh apples drizzled with honey, orange blossom. Taste: Orange honey, syrupy, soft (per the Shop, "slightly spicy with orgeat syrup" - this is about right). Finish: mouth coating, swelling spiciness that tails off into honeyed fruit that I can't quite pick out. It's been a hot minute since the last time I had Tokaji, and I don't think I've ever tried a Tokaji-finished whisk(e)y. That orange/honey notes keep this from being overtly sweet and interesting. Glad I picked this up; winner, winner, chicken dinner! N.B. - double distilled Irish single malt, so thinking this is a Cooley juice...thoughts?
