Birthday dram #2 I’ve been waiting for the moment to purchase one of these, and I’m so glad I did. Let’s get into it. Old Potrero 6 Yrs Straight Rye Whiskey 97 Proof (70-ish) Nose: clove and cola, yeast and caramel, touch of oak and those baking spices. Taste: The spice is everything- ginger, black pepper, chili, cinnamon, and baking spices. The mouthfeel is melted buttered toffee, the mid-palate has the yeast and bready with a good pot-distilled character. The finish is soft green rye with clove and spices. Not for a beginner rye fan. Explore the bourbon-y ryes first and then test the waters of these pot-distilled gems. Perhaps one of the best ryes I’ve tasted. My Grade: A+ Cheers!
