Tonight’s Not Hockey Dram: Finally finishing The Clone Wars, thought it was a good time to open my bottle of Ardbeg Anamorphic CR. I usually love Ardbeg’s gimmicks, but this one leaves me cold. The more interesting flavors of Ardbeg are tamed, such that this tastes like a meaty Highland dram. It’s fine! But not great. What peat comes through is more on the order of Laphroaig bandages than Ardbeg campfire. But credit to the Ardbeg marketing team: The bottle’s tasting notes are all about mocha, and that’s definitely present. It’s the first Ardbeg bottling I’m considering not adding to my infinity bottle.
