Dram of the day…. GlenAllachie 13 YO Year of the Horse is a bottling celebrating the upcoming Lunar New Year. A mixed cask maturation - Pedro Ximénez, Oloroso sherry and virgin oak casks, it has good complexity and taste of palm sugar, honey, hints of chocolate as well as some cherry notes. Some cinnamon spice too. It has a slight burn on the swallow and I would say it has a finish of medium length. I feel this is a more enjoyable drink compared to last year’s Year of the Snake bottling. Sadly, it’s so popular that it’s already sold out in most countries across the ASEAN region.
