Do you know that Thailand now makes international grade single malt? Tonight’s wee dram is one of three expressions from Thai Bev’s (who own Inver House Distillers - Old Pulteney/anCnoc/Balblair/Speyburn) first foray into making single malts in Thailand. Their whisky is called PRAKAAN and the distillery is located in Kamphaeng Phet, Thailand. There are 3 PRAKAAN expressions: An ex-bourbon cask matured whisky called “Select Cask” A sherry finished whisky called “Double Cask” and a third expression that’s lightly peated, called “Peated Malt”. My favourite is their peated expression although the Select Cask is a good base for a whisky highball on a hot & humid Thai night. The Double Cask is a little bit of a miss for me, I think it needs more time finishing in an ex-Sherry cask.
