Part of what I do for a living is curating single malt food pairings and hosting whisky dinners…. A highlight for me in 2025 was an event where I partnered with Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur, located in the uppermost floors of the 2nd tallest building in the world, Warisan Merdeka Tower in Kuala Lumpur (building is more commonly known as Merdeka 118). The event was held at the Park Hyatt’s Cacao Bar within their Merdeka Grill restaurant. It’s located on the 75th floor and has spectacular views of the KL skyline. Just sharing the menu for the night… the pairings were very well received, perhaps something members of the group might like to try similar styled pairings at your own home. I used the Jura 18 as a welcome drink and I actually made it the base of a self styled “Leprechaun”, replacing Irish Whisky with the Jura 18 to give the cocktail better complexity. My “Leprechaun” was made from 1 part Jura 18, 2 parts Fever Tree Indian Tonic and a squeeze of lemon juice from a wedge of fresh lemon. Enjoy!
