Killed this bottle of High West Campfire tonight! When I drink I’m in the mood for a particular flavor profile such as a fruity and floral Speyside, a smoky islay, or a sweet bourbon for example. Rarely am I in the mood for a blended scotch like a Johnnie Walker with a bit of everything. I want a little personality including potential flaws. High West Campfire is a blend with personality. Most of the time I dig it, other times the smoke was too flat or I got some soapy notes. It earned a slightly above average 6/10 (on a true 0-10 scale with 5 being perfectly drinkably average), and at $70 a bottle is a better value than 70% of the over 1200 other whiskies I’ve tried.
