Finishing a busy evening with an old cocktail: a Suburban. A relative of the Manhattan, it’s got rye, rum, and tawny port. It lacks the body heft of a proper Manhattan, but it’s a good platform for featuring the complex spice of a good rye and the funk of a good pot still rum. The drink predates suburban residential development and is named for an old horse racing term.
