Had a great visit to Widow Jane distillery in Brooklyn with @Juan Cruz. The main premise is small and compact in a historically Dutch neighborhood in Brooklyn. Their main aging warehouse is off-premise. They use their own make in the Applewood Rye and Baby Jane and source from undisclosed distilleries in Indiana, Kentucky and Tennessee for their older products. I’m guessing Ross & Squib in Indiana, Heaven Hill in Kentucky and Dickel in Tennessee? We tasted four of their products - Baby Jane: Made with a variety of corn designed for Widow Jane and distilled in Brooklyn. Young and sweet with a little pepper. Applewood Rye - Also made with some of their own distillate. Smooth and spicy with nice apple upfront that fades throughout. Widow Jane 10 - Made with a blend of their sourced distillate. A solid bourbon really showcases the minerals from the water in the Widow Jane mine used to proof the whisky. Widow Jane 13 - My favorite of the lot. Sweet and mouth-coating, this one tastes like the blend is predominately Tennessee whiskey.
