Tonight, I’m tasting some Bladnoch 11 Year - aged entirely in Bourbon barrels. I got to meet Master Distiller Nick Savage and he was absolutely inspirational. Here we go! Bladnoch 11 Year 93.4 Proof (80-ish) Nose: Pears at first, then a lot of barley sugar with just a whisper of pineapple. Honey and citrusy aromas that lead into nice floral notes. I absolutely love the nose. Taste: Mild to moderate alcohol burn, with ginger heat, barley bitterness and honey sweetness. The taste is much more savory and Lowland-esque compared to the nose. It’s almost earthy, with a balanced flavor of spice, barley and oak. This is for the whisky drinker who is still afraid of peat, but wants to embrace the savory with the sweet. My Grade: A- Cheers!
