The latest episode (#1111) on the old Mary Dowling whiskies got me thinking about a saying I heard many times over the years, "an old Turkey is a good Turkey." Well, not quite. Some old Turkeys do commend hefty premium due to popularity (looking at you Cheesy Gold Foil), but not my Turkey (a great write up on Rarebird101 - https://rarebird101.com/2018/02/06/wild-turkey-80-proof-ksbw-2001/). I bet that Kentucky Bred from my great uncle is not great either. However, the joy of these bottles for me was learning about the history/stories behind the bottles (just like learning about Mary Dowling) and not the chase...OK, off of my soapbox.
