Torabhaig is a fairly new distillery in Scotland. For my lifetime, the only distillery on the Isle of Skye was Talisker. Twenty years ago, any new distillery in Scotland would be laughed at and told “come to us when you have a 10-year” but the recent whisky boom has allowed Torabhaig to release some different expressions and invite its fans to come along with their journey. This is the third chapter of that story. Quality ingredients, lots of peat, and full transparency - and I’m smitten! Let’s taste it! Torabhaig Cnoc Na Moine Legacy Series Chapter 3 92 Proof (55-ish) Nose: The 78.4 ppm of peat is evident, with a load of campfire smoke, burnt grass, and salty brine seawater. With enough time in the glass, there are some nice notes of honey, sweet barley and some floral notes. After sipping, the nose reveals a nice raspberry tart. Taste: Let me start by saying that I absolutely love this whisky. It is young, a bit separated and bright, but it’s very pleasant. There are some great notes of cooked raspberries, some dry red wine notes, great Concerto malted barley flavors, with a dry finish that makes me feel like I’m sipping a dry Merlot near a campfire. It goes without saying that I will follow this distillery very closely. My Grade: A- Cheers!
