I recently ran across an article entitled: “How peated whisky gets its distinct flavor profile”. While probably elementary to most of the connoisseurs who are members of WhiskyCast I still found it a good read and learned a few nuggets (I didn’t realize how many regions make peated whisky). I tend not to be a peat fan myself but I will also admit to only having tried peated whisky from specific regions. Maybe I need to find one from Finland or perhaps India?
