***NEWS UPDATE*** U.S. CRAFT DISTILLERS MAKE GAINS FOLLOWING PANDEMIC The American Craft Spirits Association released its latest Craft Spirits Data Project report this morning, and a few of the key takeaways from the report: Craft distillers' sales grew by 12.2% in 2021 over 2020 to $7.5 billion in total sales, with volume up by 10.4% to more than 13.2 million (9-liter) cases. The number of active craft distillers grew by 17.4% to 2,687 as of this past August, easing fears that the pandemic would lead to a cut in the number of craft distillers. California leads the top five states for craft distilling, followed by New York, Texas, Pennsylvania, and Washington. Together, those five states account for almost a third of all craft distillers...and Texas knocked Colorado out of the top 5 this year. More on this week's WhiskyCast...
