Another surprise winner at the Canadian Whisky Awards. The award for Canadian Whisky of the Year went to Paradigm Spirits of London, Ontario for its 2022 Heritage Collection whisky. It’s a 19-year-old sourced whisky blended with Sherry, and I’ll have my tasting notes for it on this weekend’s WhiskyCast from the Victoria Whisky Festival. Other big winners: Troubled Monk Distillery won three awards for its Grain Henge Arrowwood (best new whisky, best rye of the year, and best whisky 8 years and under). Pendleton 1910 was named best whisky 9-15 years old, and Crown Royal Aged 30 Years won best whisky 16 years and older. Wayne Gretzky No. 99 Maple Cask won best no age statement whisky and best blended whisky of the year. More from Victoria tomorrow…
