Big change at Irish Distillers...got the announcement this morning. While this has been expected for some time, it's still a shame to see Billy scaling back his workload. He and Dave have both been longtime friends of WhiskyCast over the years, and we wish them both the best! Hi Mark, We’re getting in touch as we wanted to share some exciting news with you from Irish Distillers… Dave McCabe has officially been appointed as the new Master Blender at Irish Distillers, following in the footsteps of a true Master of his craft as Billy Leighton steps into a new role supporting Irish Distillers as Master Blender Emeritus after a 47-year-long career with the company. Dave joined the business in 2010 holding several different positions before being appointed Blender in 2018. Over the last five years, he has worked closely with Billy, learning from his vast industry knowledge to gain experience and an in-depth understanding into the unique craftsmanship of blending.
