***NEWS UPDATE*** Don't call it a "moratorium," call it a "pause." That's how Nelson County Judge Executive Tim Hutchins describes the latest attempt to tighten zoning restrictions for whiskey warehouses in the Bardstown area. Hutchins and his colleagues on the county's Fiscal Court introduced a compromise with the Bourbon industry that would see a 90-day pause in approvals for new warehouses in agricultural districts. The plan would reverse a 2015 decision by the Court that allows virtually unrestricted warehouse construction on plots 100 acres or larger with no public input. Final passage could come later this month. We'll have more on this weekend's WhiskyCast.
